"Game of Aces” is a unique follow on film from a documentary project I had been working on for many years titled “Luck of the Game.  In 2010 “Luck of the Game" was crafted into a theatre piece and released as “Mission of Flowers” starring Leofric Kingsford Smith, which, as my first departure from film, I enjoyed directing immensely. Although “Game of Aces” took on an entirely new form, the true stories from which the film was inspired created a unique opportunity for me to write and design a film that payed homage to the classic old school adventure films that I grew up with and enjoyed.

When I began writing the film originally titled “The Uberkanone", the German meaning for Top Gun or Ace Pilot, or more specifically Big Cannon and the reference to the German top aces of WWI, I had a very simple concept in mind, I wanted everything real and shot in camera; real stunts, real explosions, real planes, real vehicles and real locations, as to create a film that utilised traditional film making techniques of the past.  Most people genuinely thought I was insane and that the concept based on the budget was impossible. I disagreed!

The ability to work with an incredibly talented cast and crew who rose to the many challenges that this film presented, was an extraordinary experience which I think is represented in every frame of the film.
